Phase 3 COVID-19 Updates & Shop Hiatus
It’s been a few months since my last update - how I don’t know, I’ve completely lost track of time! In so many ways it feels like time has been standing still but the calendar says otherwise. This strange new normal definitely feels more strange than normal but I keep having to remind myself this pandemic is a marathon, not a sprint.
So how is COVID-19 currently affecting Jennylafleur? Again, there are two distinct parts to JLF and they have been affected in different ways so let’s talk about them separately…
The Jennylafleur Shop
The Jennylafleur online shop is currently closed, as I take a hiatus for a few weeks. This is a pause and re-set, as I catch up on current orders, work on some behind the scenes projects , as well as give myself some space to better absorb all the changes and challenges the past few months have brought.
All links to the shop will hit a password wall until reopening in August - check back on this page or on my social media for news when the shop has reopened.

In Person Appointments
The affect the COVID-19 pandemic has on the Wedding and Hair & Make-up industry in general, and Jennylafleur in particular, continues to change as we better understand and adapt to a new normal. As a service provider I’m staying on top of the latest information, regulations and guidelines from the CDC, WHO, as well as my local and state authorities and licensing board, as they are updated and updating my policies in turn.
As a HMUA a large part my job, and a focus of my training, is keeping my clients as safe and healthy as possible. While cleanliness and sanitation are things I have always been a stickler about, COVID-19 has provided a new perspective and guidelines in my sanitation, disinfectant, and safety protocols. There are tools and products I will no longer use or have replaced with disposable or giveaway products, as well as increasing sanitizing in-between clients at weddings and other appointments.
Enhanced COVID-19 Procedures:
· In my private life I am practicing Social Distancing, included limited time outside my household “bubble”, 100% mask wearing in indoor public spaces/stores and frequent hand-washing.
· I will be wearing a face mask during all appointments and I ask my clients to do the same, as required by VDPOR.
· My client and I will wash our hands before each appointment.
· I will be cleaning and sanitizing shared product bottles/tools in-between clients, as well as using disposables or one-use products as much as possible.
· For on-location appointments I require a separate room, or minimum a 6ft social distancing from my service area.
· I will arrive 30 minutes early to set up and disinfect my service area.
· I am not providing or arranging for additional artists at this time, to better control potential exposure
· I am using pre-payment (online invoicing) for a contactless checkout.
· I require all clients to sign a COVID-19 Waiver and attest that they have not been knowingly exposed.
Thank you in advance for understanding where I can’t be as accommodating as I might want to be, as I do my best to keep you - my clients - and myself, safe.
Full Face Makeup Services
Under Virginia's Phase 3 Personal Grooming/Cosmetology guidelines I may not provide any service that requires a client to remove their mask so I am not currently performing or booking Full Face Make-Up Applications.
I'm hoping the double mask requirement will change/be relaxed with Phase 4 but before I commit to providing those services I need to wait and see what Phase 4 will bring, whenever that happens. Currently I am only booking and performing Eye's Only make-up services and Eye's Only trials. If want to book your trial now and you are interested in a potential Full Face Make-Up Application, at your trial I will also match your foundation (on forehead) and send you home with a few lip stick samples to try at home.
If you want to book me for Full Face makeup for your post July 2020 wedding now, we can book/contract for an Eye's Only service and upgrade it as guidelines allow. Or I am happy to add you to my waiting list to be updated when I start scheduling/contracting Full Face makeup services before you make the commitment of booking/contracting. Just please be aware that at this time I can't guarantee Full Face makeup application will be available by any given date.
I know this is all probably incredibly frustrating as you are trying to plan your event and find the right fit for your hair & make-up artist - trust me I'm just as frustrated as you are! But during this pandemic my number one priority is to keep my clients and my family as safe as possible and I'm committed to do as much as I can to keep the potential exposure as low as possible for everyone involved.
Booking Services
In the meantime I am still booking 2020 weddings, trials, and other in-person appointments on a limited basis, as well as online consultations/meetings. If you are interested in potentially booking me for in-person services in 2020 or 2021, feel free to contact me and we will chat!
Thank You, Thank You!
Thank you again for all your support, patience, and continued patronage. It has meant the world to me and my family.
Wishing you health and happiness!
