“Antoinette” Hair Cushion

$56.00

Hair Cushions or "Toques", were pads that 18th century hair dressers used as the foundation for 18th century hairstyles that required height or volume. They were made of various materials and in many different shapes in the last few decades of the century.

The “Antoinette” style is a doughnut shape that is appropriate for the high "pouf" style of the mid to late 1770s. Each Hair Cushion is handcrafted, made from multiple layers of nylon netting, stuffed with wool fibers and is secured to the hair with high quality wig clips. It measures approximately 3.5" high, 7.5" long, 6.5" wide.

This style of hair cushion allows you to create period correct hair styles that are lightweight, comfortable and require minimum teasing or curling of the hair. It can be used as a foundation for your own hair or in wig styling.
