COVID-19 + Jennylafleur
I’ll admit it - I’m not really loving these interesting times. It’s not much fun. It’s hard to wrap my head around how much has changed in the last month. Adapting mentally, emotionally, and as a self-employed business owner, to so much change and uncertainty has been a lot - as I know it has been for all of you!
Thank you all so much, for your support and patience as I work through the impact this pandemic has on my business and you as my clients, especially my brides and in-person appointments. It means the world!
How is COVID-19 affecting Jennylafleur? Well, there are two distinct parts to JLF and they have been affected in different ways.
Jennylafleur, Hair & Make-Up Artistry
Under the current restrictions and stay-at-home order in Virginia I am not allowed, by law, to work as a Hair or Make-up Artist. HMUA is both a non-essential business and one in which a 6 ft distance between artist and client cannot be maintained, so it is one of the industries completely shut down until the orders are changed. It sucks, but there it is. The current order is in effect until June 10th, and I’m not sure yet how HMUA businesses will be affected beyond that date. I will continue to update as the situation changes and I know more.
During this time I have evaluated and changed some of my sanitation, disinfectant, and safety protocols moving forward. As a HMUA a large part my job, and a focus of my training, is keeping my clients as safe and healthy as possible. While cleanliness and sanitation is something I have always been a stickler about, COVID-19 has provided a new perspective, and opportunity for additional improvement in my protocols.. There are some tools and products I no longer use, as well as increased sanitizing in between clients at weddings and other multi-client appointments. This will mean longer appointments times and may restrict the amount of appointments I can fit into a day-of schedule. Thank you in advance for understanding where I can’t be as flexible, as I do my best to keep you - my clients - and myself, safe. If you have ANY general or specific questions about sanitation, safety protocols or the JLF Artistry response to COVID-19 please don’t hesitate to contact me!
In the meantime I am still booking 2020 weddings, trials, and other in-person appointments for after Mid-June, as well as online consultations/meetings until then. If you are interested in potentially booking me for in-person services in 2020 or 2021, feel free to contact me and we will chat!
The Jennylafleur Shop
The Jennylafleur online shop is currently open and I am continuing to create and ship orders. All orders are created and packed with care in my home workroom, with appropriate hand washing, clean work spaces, etc. Please note that orders may take longer than normal to ship, as I am only shipping once a week to limit exposure. If you have a specific deadline you need your order delivered by, please let me know so I can do my best to accommodate.
Also, please note that orders are limited to the inventory/hair I have on hand (listed on the website). Because of disruptions and delays in my supply chains, I am not able to take custom orders at this time. If you have a custom order request, feel free to contact me with the details and your deadline to be put on my waiting list. Please be aware that I don’t know when I will be able to begin work on custom orders again.
I will be closing the shop May 10-June 15 for my annual Spring hiatus, so if you are in need of items before July 20th please order before May 10th.
Thank You, So Very Much!
Thank you again for all your support, patience, and continued patronage. I can’t tell you how much I appricate the many messages, tags, shares, and posts Jennylafleur has received across social media during the past few weeks. This is not something you plan for as a small business. It has meant the world to see and feel your support, not only for JLF but all local and creative small businesses. Y’all are amazing!
Wishing you health and happiness!
